Healthy Muesli

Occasionally I get the urge to detox. To be honest I've only gone through with it a few times and although it's challenging not having alcohol, salt and sugar for weeks on end, you do feel good for it. Recently I'm more inclined to try and eat a few really healthy meals a week and go without grog at least 3-4 times a week. This enough of a challenge for me right now.

I think the easiest healthy thing to eat almost daily is muesli. With this recipe, not only do you get a kick out of making it yourself, it's healthy and filling. The recipe below is from the book - The Liver Cleansing Diet by Dr Sandra Cabot (the one with the daggy ginga Doctor on the cover)

Ingredients:
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup of raisins or sultanas
1 cup of rye or rice flakes
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup chopped dried dates
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup chopped roasted almonds
1/4 cup pepita seeds
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Combine and mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Place in an airtight container and store in the fridge.

Serve with your fruit of choice and yoghurt. I like mango with vanilla yoghurt or pear and strawberries. Yum

Will post a pic soon..
